The biggest concern with social media marketers? Resources

Once upon a time, marketers had some serious issues with social media marketing initiatives. Everything from strategy and determining ROI to defining clear objectives topped the list of concerns. Today, social media marketing has advanced to the point where ROI can be calculated and social media strategy is intertwined with overall marketing goals. With this change a new concern has risen to the top of the list: Resources.

Whether it be people, time, or both, marketers are most worried about resources according to a report released on eMarketer. Social media was once seen as a free or cheap way of marketing that only needed the hours of an internal team. With the importance of social media rising at such a rapid rate, that part-time social media job is now full-time and more. According to the survey,  over 41% say that a lack of resources is seen as a barrier to entry in social media marketing. Even more compelling is that when asked the biggest mistake marketers made with social media was, about 38% cited not allocating enough time or resources.

If this research is any indication of the state of marketing needs, there could be a lot of opportunities for both agencies and in-house social media experts. Get your resumes social media ready.
