According to a new report released on MediaPost, Moms rule social media. It turns out the perception that young professionals or college students are the power-users of social media and consumer electronic is just a little bit off.
Moms spend about $822 a year on ‘gadgetry’ according to research from the Consumer Electronics Association and account for more than half of the consumer electronics spending in the home. A bit surprising I’m sure, but just more of a testament to the power of mom and why marketers need to take notice.
A few more amazing stats from the study:
- 64% of moms read social media review sites when making an electronics purchase
- 25% of moms post experiences and reviews on social sites
- 84% of all moms are using social media
- 50% are utilizing social for discounts and share time-sensitive offers with friends
