The world was formally introduced to the iPhone 4 yesterday at WWDC. I’m sure by now, you’ve seen it, but in case you haven’t, take a look. There are a lot of great new features that when combined with some already available apps, can make you much more socially productive on the web while mobile.
1. Video from anywhere, in HD
With the new front-facing video camera on the iPhone, now you can record your thoughts, interviews, and do impromptu videos better than ever before. Not only can you SEE what you’re recording, but you can do it in HD! Opening up a new world of options. Plus as before you can upload directly to facebook, youtube, etc.
2. Multitasking

If you’ve ever used the Facebook app on your iPhone and got a text, you know how annoying it is to have to close it down and open it back up over and over again. Ever wanted to listen to Pandora while typing an e-mail? How about be available for Skype calls all the time? Now, you can do it, making you much more productive when using apps like Tweetdeck, Foursquare and WordPress.
3. Social Apps

Now you know that you can multitask, you need to get the apps that make your life easier. The best part about most apps is that your iPhone 3G or 3GS will work just fine with them. You can let everyone know where you’re hanging out at with Foursquare and Gowalla, you can manage your Twitter stream with Tweetdeck and Hootsuite, and you can keep blogging on the road with apps from WordPress, Typepad and even Tumblr. It doesn’t get much more social than that! With OS 4, you can now organize your apps into folders as well, so no more cluttered pages of apps.
4. iBooks

Reading a book may not be the most obviously social thing to do, but with so many great books on social media like The New Community Rules and Socialnomics, being able to get some reading done while on the train, the beach, waiting in line at the DMV, or whatever, is simply awesome. Of course you could use iBooks on your iPad or actually get a REAL BOOK, but who wants to drag those around all day?
There are countless ways that people are using the iPhone to stay connected with social media while on the go. If you have any tips to share, leave them in the comments.
